Academic vocational education and advanced training

The following possibilities currently exist for academic qualification as care home director in cooperation with the E.D. E.:

  • Part-time or full-time studies at a (technical) university
  • Postgraduate studies  "Master of Business Administration (MBA)"
  • University courses of study (Universitätslehrgänge)

1. Studies at a University of Applied Sciences

The following programmes have received E.D.E. accreditation because their curricula comply with the requirements of the E.D.E. for the education of care home directors.
Apart from a university diploma, graduates also receive the E.D.E. certificate for directors of residential care homes for the elderly.

2. Postgraduate studies "Master of Business Administration (MBA)"

The opportunity exists in Austria to complete the “MBA in social management” with the E.D.E. certificate for directors of residential care homes for the elderly as a prerequisite. Such studies are accredited by the E.D.E. and can be pursued at:

  • Akademie für Sozialmanagement (ASOM), in cooperation with the Executive Academy of Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien
  • Institut für Bildung im Gesundheitsdienst (IBG), in cooperation with ARGE Bildungsmanagement at several locations in Austria, South Germany and South Tyrol

3. University courses of study (Universitätslehrgänge)

University courses of study (Universitätslehrgänge) are continuing education courses at an Austrian university which generally require a completed undergraduate degree and/or relevant work experience as a prerequisite. The following are accredited by the E.D.E.:

Both Austrian and German holders of the E.D.E. certificate without university entrance qualifications may enrol in this course of study and obtain the academic degree "Master of Science" in the context of a cooperation agreement with the German training institute andragogik konkret.
